In the summer of 2005, while driving to a popular movie premier, Entrepreneur Marty Watts was agonizing over the prospect of having to wait outside in the 108º heat for an hour and a half to get a good seat. He momentarily imagined using tape or stickers to suspend his shirt over his head. As he parked his car and joined the long line of people already waiting, he had a better idea. What about “shade on a stick?” What if it was collapsible and easy to carry? Excited about the prospect, he left the movie early to pursue the idea that eventually became HaloShade™.
